Who is behind Amble Digital?
Hello, I'm Rachel - founder of Amble Digital and a passionate advocate for adult learning.
I started Amble Digital because I saw a gap. In my years of working with people across Surrey, I met countless adults who were struggling quietly with technology - feeling too embarrassed to ask for help, too nervous to try, or simply not getting the right support at the right time.
I wanted to change that - starting right here, in my local community.
I've spent over 14 years teaching adults, and more than three of those years working as a digital skills trainer in the charity sector across Surrey - supporting people of all abilities, including elderly and disabled adults, to build confidence with technology.
During that time I delivered nearly 800 digital skills sessions and worked with over 200 people - each one with their own starting point, their own pace, and their own story.
I worked with adults of all abilities - older adults, people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory impairments, and a wide range of other needs. That experience shaped everything about how I deliver sessions today - and it's central to what Amble Digital is built on.
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, a CELTA qualification and I’m currently working towards my Level 3 Award in Education and Training, and I bring the same patience, warmth, and commitment to every session I deliver.
I've been self-employed most of my life, which means I work on my own terms - and so do you throughout your learning journey.
When I'm not visiting clients across Hampshire or Surrey, you'll usually find me somewhere in the countryside - I'm a keen walker and believe that fresh air and a good walk solve most things.
My Background
There are more people struggling quietly with technology than most of us realise. Not because they aren't capable, but because they've never had the right support, in the right environment, at the right pace.
I've seen what happens when that support finally arrives. A first video call to a grandchild. Realising you've spotted a scam before it did any damage. Sending an email on your own for the very first time. These aren't small things - they change how someone moves through the world every single day.
Digital confidence affects everything. Staying connected to family. Managing health appointments. Feeling safe online. Accessing services that have moved online whether people were ready or not. For older or disabled adults and people who find technology intimidating, the gap between those who can and those who can't keeps widening.
This is about more than learning to use a device. It's about independence. Dignity. Being able to participate fully in a world that increasingly assumes everyone is already connected.
Amble Digital exists because I believe everyone deserves patient, personalised support, delivered with genuine care.
